Situated in Potter Street, which was the settlement along the London Road before its incorporation into Harlow New Town after World War 2.
We like to think we still keep the warmth (new heaters!) and friendliness of a typical village church, even into the 21st century when Harlow is a town of well over 80,000 people.
We are an Anglican church in “the Catholic Tradition” – our Sunday worship is formal, with robed servers and incense. But we are also increasingly committed to the life of the wider Christian community, both in Potter Street (where we meet regularly with our neighbours from the Baptist Church); in Harlow (through our Deanery and the group Heart4Harlow, which represents many different Christian traditions in the town), and our valued place in the Diocese of Chelmsford.
Please contact the church wardens or Father Garry to talk about baptisms or weddings, or if you would like to organize a funeral service in our church. But best of all, come and join us on a Sunday morning at 11am.
Our mass lasts a little over an hour: we have a friendly and informal Sunday School for our younger worshippers, and it will be a great pleasure to share what we can of God’s love and goodness with you.
We are committed to Safeguarding Children, Young People, Victims/perpetrators of Domestic Abuse and Vulnerable Adults. The PCC has adopted the Church of England's policies and best practice on Safeguarding which may be found on the Church of England's website.
St.Mary Magdalene Church is part of the Diocese of Chelmsford. For further information about safeguarding in the Diocese of Chelmsford, their Safeguarding Team and Safeguarding Contacts.
Our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Sharon, who may be contacted at Church or by email
